CENTRAL, LA (NBC33) — A community park has the potential to revitalize a community by providing a safe environment to foster community engagement and promote public health. For this reason the residents of Central will gain the chance to voice their opinions about what they want to see improved with one of its current site locations.
BREC’s Planning and Engineering Department will host a presentation tomorrow to discuss the desired location and the facilities.
“The presentation will explain what makes a community park different from a neighborhood park and how BREC could make it work at one of the following sites: Jackson Park, Lovett Road Park or the Central Sports Park,” a release explained.
BREC staff will be on hand to show off the architectural drawings, answer questions and ask participants to fill out a survey to help BREC determine what the community wants in its new park.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Central Branch Library, 11260 Joor Road, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The improvements are made possible by the 2004 Imagine Your Parks Program.
