BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — While CATS riders didn't want to give the Baton Rouge bus system a grade for their performance, Together Baton Rouge sent a message with the marks it gave CATS.
"Unfortunately, for them their grade for communication was an F," says Raymond Jetson.
Jetson is part of the transit coalition helping to make sure CATS reaches all of the goals it promised when voters approved millions of dollars to help fund it back in April. And while they're on track in terms of keeping the bus system up and running, the news isn't all good.
"The interest of CATS is not best served by the level of communication that has taken place today,” says Jetson. “It's not engendered itself to the community. It doesn't build a stronger trust. It doesn't build a good relationship between the organization and those in the community who are supportive of it.".
And CATS board member Jared Loftus agrees.
"I think we have positive information that we can share. It's a matter of everybody getting on the same page and everybody saying the same thing," says Loftus.
Loftus told me off camera CATS is looking into hiring help to let people know what's going on.
"Very poor, very poor. There's not a lot of communication between the riders and the people with CATS," says the CATS rider.
