Call for resumes: New talent development program building database of out-of-region professionals

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) issued a “call for resumes” to professional individuals who currently reside outside of the Capital Region and are interested in seeking employment within the Baton Rouge area. With these resumes, BRAC will build a diverse talent database that can be accessed when regional companies are searching for candidates for hard-to-fill positions.

Those interested in being a part of the database can find more information on the “call for resumes” and confidentially submit a resume by clicking here. The talent database initiative is a key component of BRAC’s new talent development program.

“We repeatedly hear from ex-residents who are interested in returning to the Baton Rouge area or get resumes forwarded from their friends and family who are in the region,” said Adam Knapp, President and CEO of BRAC. “At the same time, I also hear from economic development prospects and companies in the Baton Rouge area who struggle to find talent to match their professional positions. The talent database is an opportunity to assist both groups in meeting their needs while achieving the overall goal of increasing access to talented professionals in the region.”

Through BRAC, economic development prospects and companies in the region will be able to identify and access mid- to senior-level professionals by using its talent attraction services. For prospects, the database will serve as an incentive for locating in the Baton Rouge area.

Similarly, employers in the region will be able to engage BRAC to identify talent to match open positions. For other executive search firms in the region, BRAC will partner with them to help in searches for out-of-state talent for positions located in the Capital Region. BRAC will include only out-of-region professionals in the database to ensure that it does not become a tool to facilitate “poaching” of employees within the region.

The talent development program is a core program of BRAC’s five-year strategic plan, The Creative Capital Agenda. The multi-faceted program is designed to address a major concern

identified by BRAC’s economic development prospects and investors and is dedicated to retaining and attracting talented professionals to the Baton Rouge area. Over the next few years, BRAC will be implementing a number of strategies aimed at increasing the region’s talent level with initiatives focused on college graduate retention, candidate attraction, and newly relocated employee assimilation.
