Brush fire shuts down Baton Rouge road
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — An 11 year-old boy caused the partial closure of Pecue Lane for over 3 hours this morning by starting a brush fire.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office say the boy was burning trash and tree limbs around 4 a.m., which is a clear violation of the current statewide burn ban.
It's critical this law is observed during our current drought.
The St. George Fire Department says they have been getting a lot of calls from people asking if the burn ban is still in effect.
The ban is still in place throughout the state, and has been for two weeks.
This means no one can start fire, even campfires, outside within the state. That state Fire Marshall hasn’t said when the ban will be lifted.
