Baton Rouge police released its unofficial crime stats for 2011.

As far as the number of murders they've worked, they say there were 64 last year within the city limits, which is a seven percent decrease from 2010.

If that number is confirmed, that will be the least amount of murders in five years.

BRPD said they will release the official statistics to U.S. and the FBI in February.

The East Baton Rouge Coroner says the total number of homicides for 2011 is 91 with eight cases still pending. That's consistent with the average from previous years.
