Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s original, “The Nutcracker—A Tale from the Bayou,” returns to the River Center Theatre stage for four performances Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Nutcracker—A Tale from the Bayou, once called “the area’s largest, oldest, most professional, and yes, most original production of Tchaikovsky’s Christmas ballet” by Country Roads Magazine, continues to thrill children and adults alike, drawing audiences since its inception in 1991.

The treasured production incorporates antebellum clothing and local landmarks such as a bayou, the Old State Capitol, and Oak Alley.

The cast features world-class guest artists, BRBT’s company, live music from the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and more than 300 area children.

Guest artists will include Erica Cornejo, principal dancer with Boston Ballet, and Carlos Molina, former principal dancer with Boston Ballet.
