The future of Baton Rouge is looking good, especially for businesses – both large and small.

Baton Rouge Area Chamber President Adam Knapp spoke at the Rotary Club today about the current economic status of the city.

He stated that an expansion of chemical manufacturing companies and software companies in the area have opened up over 1200 new jobs.

Knapp said it’s an exciting time in Baton Rouge for those industries because they were heading on a decline and now, there is resurgence due to low natural gas prices.

“We’re working aggressively, and the community is working aggressively around helping the economy grow, bring in investment and ultimately, create new transactions and new sales,” state Knapp. “That's what a lot of businesses ask us to make sure we’re engaged in."

Knapp also says that BRAC is working with small businesses on how to work with the possible new state tax reform.
