A Baton Rouge Firefighter is in the hospital after the fire truck he was riding in runs off the road on Thursday, Dec. 22.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says the four man crew was responding to a first aid call on gore road when the truck's driver swerved to avoid a head on collision with an erratic driver.

We're told the roads were slick and the truck spun into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed into someone's fence.

We're told three firefighters are fine but a Captain Voltaire Sanders was rushed to the hospital but with non-lifethreatening injuries.

Cpt. Sanders has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. However, we’re told he will remain off of work for an extended period of time.
