BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — This is an update to an earlier post:
The La. Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries has found the body of Joshua Peters, 27 of Livingston. Peters had been missing since Saturday, when he and his uncle, Larry Peters launched a small boat into the Mississippi River to fish. Larry's body was recovered Sunday morning near Donaldsonville. Joshua's body was found south of Baton Rouge near Ben Hur Monday morning.
The search for Joshua Peters, from Livingston, continues Monday. He set out on a fishing trip down the Mississippi River Saturday with his uncle, Larry Peters, 58, of Slaughter. That’s the last time their family heard from the men.
Larry’s body was spotted by tug boat workers Sunday morning, floating near Donaldsonville. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies recovered the body, but Sheriff Jeff Wiley tells NBC33 News his department is not involved in the continued search for Joshua. That’s because no one knows where their boat capsized.
The two launched a small flat bottom boat near the new Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge Saturday. The boat has not been found. The U.S. Coast Guard and Wildlife and Fisheries agents will continue looking for Joshua between Baton Rouge and Ascension.
