'Big Baby' visits EBR Libraries

Former LSU star and current NBA great Glen 'Big Baby' Davis is back in Baton Rouge this week. Taking a time out to encourage children in the capitol city to read. Davis is partnering with the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and will tour parish branches and community centers starting Wednesday.

Davis will be reading his book, Basketball with Baby, a lesson in success geared towards keeping kids in school and out of trouble.

Here's the schedule:

Wednesday, July 20
9:30 a.m.: Press conference at Sports Academy, 1002 Laurel St.
Noon: Lunch and Speaking with Rotary Club at Boudreaux’s, 2647 Government St.
2 p.m.: Teen Party at Zachary Branch Library, 1900 Church St. **
6:30 p.m.: Summer Reading Party at Jones Creek Regional Branch Library, 6222 Jones Creek Road **
8 p.m.: Coaches Night Out featuring Coach Dale Brown, at Sports Academy, 1002 Laurel St. ** (Registration required)

Thursday, July 21
10 a.m.: Summer Reading Party at Delmont Gardens Branch Library, 3351 Lorraine St. **
1:30 p.m.: BREC Campers Event, BREC Administration Building, 6201 Florida Blvd.
3:30 p.m.: Summer Reading Party at Eden Park Branch Library, 5131 Greenwell Springs Road **
4 p.m.: Glen will drop in on the Library Board of Control Meeting at the BREC Administration Building, 6201 Florida Blvd. **
7 p.m.: Reception at State Museum, 660 North 4th St.

Friday, July 22
10 a.m.: Presentation to mothers and children a part of YWCA Program at Dalton Elementary, 3605 Ontario St.
2 p.m.: Gaming with teens at Gollywood, 6224 Plank Road
6 p.m.: Academy Sports autograph-signing, 10808 Industriplex Blvd. (off Siegen Lane) **
8 p.m.: DIG Big into Literacy Event, at the Shaw Center, 100 Lafayette St. ** (Tickets required)

Saturday, July 23
Noon: Drills, Skills and Reading at Cortana Mall, Entrance 2, 9401 Cortana Place **
3 p.m.: Councilwoman Tara Wicker's Special Back to School Expo at Leo S. Butler Center, 950 East Washington St. **
