BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — After more than 25 years in business, Boondocks, a daquari shop on Winbourne is shut down after an early morning fire destroyed everything.
Now, all of Rachel Williams' hard work is gone. Thursday, things are different for Rachel.
"Normally, it's a get up, come check the daiquiri shop, see what we need, cut machines on, let them freeze, and open the door," Rachel said.
However, this morning, things changed, starting with an early morning call from her daughter.
"'Mama, don't get upset, but somebody just called me and told me the daiquiri shop is on fire," Rachel explained. "It's like anything else, you work hard for something and just to see this burned down like this... it's hard."
Now everything is gone. The shop that she worked so hard to get off the ground is a bunch of rubble.
"It's just taking a minute to get this together because this is the first time anything major like this has every happened," Rachel said. "So it's going to take a minute, then we are going to get back to work."
Still, Rachel is calm and optimistic.
"You know things happen, but this here is a little hard cookie to swallow, but like anything else, we can't cry over spilt milk. What we are going to do is put on our big pants and just move on forward. It will be back," Rachel said.
Now Rachel is working with insurance adjusters, so she can start moving forward. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
