What do you think of when you think of the Capital City? According to a survey Baton Rouge is the second most joyous city in America behind only New York City.

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber says the rankins is great news nationally, but selling it locally is a different story, "it's probably our toughest sell to the local residents on how great things are in the city and the area," says Renee Areng of Visit Baton Rouge.

Even though some people in Baton Rouge agree it's a tough sell, others like Tuikeicha Riley of Baton Rouge say the survey is right on the money, "we have a lot of things to offer. We have Broadway and the river, governor's mansion."

Baton Rouge also ranks high as a tourist destination in Gulfscapes magazine, Paul Billingsley of Hammond says the Baton Rouge government has a lot to do with the good rankings, "We have a pretty good tax base, industrial base here which  gives Baton Rouge a real step ahead of some other cities."

Representatives from the Baton Rouge Area Chamber say they hope the Capital City will bring in more top rankings and that these surveys will encourage more people to visit and invest in Baton Rouge
