BATON ROUGE, LA — Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a single-vehicle fatal crash last night involving a motorcycle.
Troopers responded to the crash on LA 73 near LA 948 in East Baton Rouge Parish shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Kevin Thibodeaux, 35, of Baton Rouge was driving a Suzuki Motorcycle north on LA 73, approaching LA 948, when he entered a left-hand curve and ran off the road to the right. After exiting the roadway, the motorcycle slid across a concrete driveway and struck a curb.
Thibodeaux suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. Troopers do not suspect impairment to have been a factor in this crash.
Troopers strongly encourage motorcyclists to always remain alert, pay attention to their surroundings, and drive defensively. Motorcycle safety courses are offered by Department of Public Safety, and all riders should take such courses. There are also private safety courses available in and around the Greater Baton Rouge Area. Learning tasks, such as proper braking and cornering, is very important and can mean the difference between life and death.
