BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The party might be getting started in New Orleans but in Baton Rouge, it's in full swing.
The band is playing, the beer is flowing and the people are pouring in. Baton Rouge is ready to start the Superbowl and Mardi Gras parties. And people like Bill Bolding say they moved to Baton Rouge just for days like Friday.
"This is a fantastic weekend not only do we have Mardi Gras but we have the Superbowl right here in Louisiana just doesn't get any better than this," says Bill Bolding.
Bolding says to take advantage of all the festivities he had to leave a special someone behind. “I left my wife over at the belle gambling and I’m riding my bike around town," noted Bolding.
With the Superbowl only days away and Mardi Gras celebrations already underway, the city is taking advantage of what they can offer.
"Tomorrow were going to have more vendors on site offering wear giving massages its going be a truly amazing event," says Josh Anderson, the Sales Manager of the River Center.
Even visitors are already saying this is a place they would love to visit again.
“I love it, I like it here in Baton Rouge, its real nice its beautiful day, isn't it awesome," noted David Harris, a Baton Rouge tourist.
And the city sees what events like these do to the reputation of the Capitol City.
"We want those visiting to say this is a place they want to come back to when where is not all of this going on they want to come back and see it, enjoy more of our hospitality our world famous food and to really become part of this experience,” noted Anderson. “We want them to come away with a warm feeling in their heart and a full belly."
People like Bill Bolding are living proof.
"This is why i moved down from north Louisiana in 1965. I’ve enjoyed it here ever since."
So far the economic impact from the Superbowl and Mardi Gras is in the tens of millions of dollars.
