Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A Baton Rouge apartment has been deemed a “total loss” after catching fire yesterday morning.

On December 30 around 9:00 a.m., firefighters were called to Oakland Apartments off of Airline Highway.

The fire began in the living room of the apartment and quickly spread from to the kitchen, heavily damaging both before being extinguished.

The entire apartment sustained both heavy smoke and heat damage and was deemed a total loss.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it is believed that there were combustible items in the living room where the fire began.
