'Ballroom with a Twist' comes to LSU
BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) —
An ensemble of lithe dancers will waltz onto the LSU Union Theater stage on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2:30 p.m. to perform Broadway-styled dance numbers in "Ballroom with a Twist," the national tour spin-off of the televised dance competition "Dancing with the Stars" and featuring former "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancers Edyta Silwinska and Alic Mazo.
"Ballroom with a Twist" is a brilliant new dance production conceived and choreographed by "Dancing With the Stars" dance professional and Emmy nominee Louis van Amstel. This extravagant evening of entertainment features "Dancing With the Stars" professional dancers, "American Idol" finalists and incredible performers from "So You Think You Can Dance" to astound audiences of all ages. Despite a lack of competition, previous competitors demonstrate how to push the boundaries of ballroom dance, while infusing it with energy and intensity, stunning costumes, magnificent music and breathtaking performances.
Van Amstel brings the same passion, expertise and excitement to "Ballroom with a Twist" as he did to television with his celebrity partners Kendra Wilkinson, Niecy Nash, Kelly Osbourne, Priscilla Presley and Margaret Cho, and as the choreographer of the live "Dancing With the Stars" tour.
Tickets for "Ballroom with a Twist" are $50-$70 for adults and $10 for students. For group discounts for 10 or more, contact Terry Serio, assistant theater director, at (225)578-6013. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
