Baker woman dies in early morning traffic accident; passenger suffers life-threatening injuries

A vehicle attempted to pass a slower moving car early this morning in Baker. The driver lost control and struck a utility pole.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says Ashley Bethley, 24, of Baker died at the scene of the crash. Her passenger, Christopher Bob, 23, also of Baker, suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

We’re told neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which occurred around 7:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26.

Bethley was driving a 2007 Saturn Ion southbound on LA Hwy 19 near Blount Road.
