Two people in Baton Rouge lost their lives yesterday due to traffic accidents. Although the two were unrelated, the heavy rainfall yesterday is considered a major factor for the cause of both wrecks.

The first incident happened at 2:35 p.m. at the 13000 block of Denham Road between Joor and Devall. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.

Tyler Kyzar, 16, of Old Greenwell Springs Road lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He later died as a result of his injuries.

The second accident happened roughly thirty-minutes later in the 10700 block of Highway 19 and Blount Road. The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to this call.

Officials say Cory Clark, 29, of Baker also lost control of his vehicle and struck an electrical pole. He too was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

In both cases investigators say the bad weather conditions were a factor in the cause of the crashes.
