The Ascension Parish 2011 Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day is slated for Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

“Ascension Parish residents have really responded to these hazardous materials collection day events,” Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez said. “We feel this is a good way for residents to properly dispose of items that are deemed hazardous not only to humans but to our environment as well.”

Terance Irvin, environmental supervisor for Ascension Parish Government, said the Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the expo center. Irvin said the collection day is for Ascension Parish residents only and that a valid ID will be required.
