DARROW, LA (NBC33) — Residents in Darrow have long complained about low water pressure, frequent boil notices and stoppages due to its service provider. Today, the Ascension Parish President announced that all that should change.
As of Thursday, July 11, the town of Darrow switched its service from water supplied by St. James Parish Water District to Baton Rouge Water.
“In the past, Darrow residents have had issues with supply interruptions of the St. James Water supply line to Ascension Parish,” Brian Martinez, director of the Ascension Parish Utilities Department, said. “There have been frequent boil notices and stoppage of water service for up to 24-hour periods.”
Director Martinez said the parish administration executed a three-year usage agreement for bulk water from Ascension Water.
“Residents should see an increase in their water pressure, and a softer feel of the water due to the mineral makeup,” Director Martinez said. “Frequent water stoppages are not expected to occur any longer.”
