In Ascension Parish, several areas are dealing with high water.

In St. Amant, many of the small canals and bayous are full. Water overflowed into yards.

People living in the area had to sandbag their homes, and they say they're nervous things could get much worse overnight.

“My biggest fear - if it comes in my house, I could lose some property," stated resident Larry Waguespack, who lives close to a canal. “Quit building so many homes and work on drainage systems.”

Over in Gonzales, several roads are closed due to heavy street flooding. Homes and businesses along Bayou Narcisse Road are surrounded by water.

Many people there are still cleaning up after Hurricane Isaac's flood waters damaged their property; they say if the rain gets any worse, the results could be devastating.

"I have a ‘pool’ in the front yard and in the back yard,” stated Laura Lafitte. “It's so bad that when I'm driving down the road, I can’t even tell where my drive way is."

“We're going to have to put something in front like a bump,” said Bob Singer, who owns a business on a flooded street. “We have a water pump, but I'm not going to sit here all night - I have a house too.”

Ascension Parish officials say all parish pumps are working, and they've been on since 5:00 p.m. last night.
