Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Visit Baton Rouge CEO Paul Arrigo spoke at the first “Forum Friday” luncheon, which was held by the group Forum 35.
Arrigo talked about the significance of tourism to our state. With Mardi Gras season and the 2012 Bowling Congress happening at the same time, Arrigo stated several thousand new people are visiting the Capitol City area.
Arrigo said these events don't require a lot of city dollars to put on, but they have quite a bit of return to the economy.
“Rather than money leaving this community, there's money coming into the Baton Rouge area, and tourists do not normally use the services residents use, such as police, fire, etc."
Arrigo says 2012 should be a banner year for tourism with the state's bicentennial celebration.
Forum 35 is a group of men and women dedicated to improving and shaping Baton Rouge.
