BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — There may still be problems with Healthcare.GOV, but the Affordable Care Act is already sending money out to clinics across the nation - Louisiana is on the receiving end of almost $7 million.
It's a small part of more than $150 million in awards to help establish and support more than 200 new health center sites in communities with historically high un-insurance rates.
In Louisiana, 12 health centers will get grants to hire more physicians, nurses, or dentists and serve an additional 63,000 patients.
These health centers are also on the front line of helping uninsured residents enroll for insurance under under the Affordable Care Act.
