Livingston, La (NBC33) — It was a busy day today in Livingston Parish, and seputies are also fresh off a synthetic drug sweep.
They, along with state police and city police, went store to store giving business owners one final chance to turn over the fake stuff without being arrested.
Governor Bobby Jindal just signed a bill into law that bans all items labeled as potpourri or bath salts. People use the synthetic drugs to get a marijuana or cocaine like high, depending on the substance.
"As the police would come in, to take some of the stuff off the shelf, they would just change a portion of the ingredients, we can then move to that next one and it's illegal at any point of it," said Colonel Mike Edmonson with the Louisiana State Police.
