Port Allen, La (NBC33) — The LA-415 exit ramp on I-10 is still shut down tonight after a tractor-trailer crash early this morning.

The DOTD says the road could remain closed through this evening's rush hour.

The incident happened just before 10:00 a.m.

According to reports, the trailer was carrying thousands of containers of hydrochloric acid, which is used in swimming pools. None of it spilled, but the truck itself almost split in two, right down the middle.

A state police hazmat team was called in to make sure everything was off loaded safely. 

Due to a hazardous materials the east bound exit ramp is still closed; however, the west bound exit ramp is expected to remain open. The estimated time the east bound exit ramp is going to be reopened is approximately 9:00 pm.
