BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) —
Part of the World Trade Center is in Baton Rouge Wednesday to help raise money for fire fighters and their families. The piece of steel was in a stairwell of Tower Two when it collapsed on 911. Now it is on tour, as a memorial for Terry Farrell, a New York fireman who died in the terrorist attacks that day.
Farrell’s family and fellow firemen set up a fund in his name and they are already giving back. On the way to Baton Rouge, the Farrell Fund delivered an 18-wheeler full of gear to volunteer fire departments devastated by tornadoes there. The account also helps support injured firefighters and their families.
The World Trade Center steel will be on display at the Government Street Fire Station downtown Wednesday. From there, the tour heads to Ferrara Fire in Holden. Ferrara donated a fire truck to the Terry Farrell fund.
