BROUSSARD, LA (NBC33) — A 71-year-old man from Youngsville died yesterday after the motorcycle he was driving was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The Broussard Police Department reports that the crash happened on Wednesday, July 31 shortly before 10:00 p.m. Officials say the victim, Roy Cooper, was ejected from his Harley Davidson and was reported dead at the scene.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle who hit Cooper, Melissa Pellerin, 49, of Youngsville, was driving north on LA 89. She was turning left on Neuville Road when she hit Cooper.
Although Pellerin made a legal turn on the green light, she claims she did not see the oncoming motorcycle.
Pellerin was cited for Failing to Yield to oncoming traffic when turning left at an intersection.
