A fun day complete with a fall festival celebration turns violent today at career academy as dozens of students get involved in a massive fight.

"I was so scared," shared Caldrika Woods.

Fear was the only emotion Caldrika Woods was feeling as she was rushing to her brother's school Thursday. After she heard about a massive fight and lockdown at Career Academy she and her mother got to the school as fast as they could.

"They were saying there was blood everywhere. This little girl called her mom and was panicking, she was crying," explained Woods.

A Baton Rouge police officer is always on duty at the school, but was forced to call for back up and use pepper spray as more than 20 kids battled it out.

"Because of the fights, because of the amount of people that were fighting, that was the most effective way to disperse and get everybody to where they needed to be," explained Cpl. Don Coppola, with the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Police say the fight all started at the school's fall festival when one boy threw a cold drink at a female student.

"Something may have been said, taken out of proportion and it just escalated to this, to where it did," explained Coppola.

Nancy Roberts with Career Academy said she is disappointed and upset at her students for their actions.

"This behavior will not be tolerated and we work with kids all the time to help them understand how to solve their interpersonal relationships but obviously we have a lot of work to do," said Roberts.

While the school's leaders say this isn't the type of thing that happens there, Woods said she's not comfortable sending her little brother there any more.

"No not really, but it's too late in the school year to change that," she said.

There were no major injuries to any students and no one was taken to the hospital. Police have said that this is an on-going investigation and criminal charges will be filed.
