2-alarm warehouse fire caused by electrical malfunction; ruled accident
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Investigators have determined that an electrical malfunction is to blame for causing a 2-alarm fire at the Associated Grocers warehouse facility near Bluebonnet.
The St. George Fire Department responded to the scene on Wednesday, June 5 at roughly 12:30 p.m. A total of 6 trucks and 35 personnel responded. One veteran firefighter described it as "not nearly the biggest, but the most labor-intensive fire of his career."
Investigators believe the electrical malfunction originated in a space between the ceiling and the roof.
Most of the damage was limited to the administrative spaces, not the warehouses. The corporate headquarters located next door were not impacted.
No one was injured.
