15 people are left homeless after a fire Monday morning
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Fifteen people are homeless after lightning struck this house on East Monarch Ave., and spread to the house next door.
Volunteers assisting the families say the fire started just before two this morning.
15 people had to be helped, more than half of them were children.
Officials with the red cross say volunteers and donations are critical to people that have just lost everything.
"People in Louisiana in particular are extremely generous with their time, and their donations because they themselves have often been affected by a disaster," said Red Cross Chief Development Director, Laura St. Blanc.
