Local companies promote healthy workplace

The American Heart Association is encouraging employers to offer fitness programs in the workplace, and almost a dozen Capital Area business are on board.

Start Fit Friendly is a national campaign that recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana is one of the Baton Rouge companies taking part.

Its main campus is equipped with an indoor walking track, gym and professional trainers all free to employees.
