It's sold as herbal incense, but people are smoking it like marijuana, and say it has similar effects. State lawmakers are trying to crack down on the so called "fake weed."
Right now, it's legal, and can be found in convenience stores and head shops all over the state. The incense is a mix of herbs and spices, sprayed with a chemical similar to THC which is the chemical in marijuana that gets people high.
Police officers say the high is similar to that of marijuana.
The House of Representatives voted unanimously Tuesday to prohibit the manufacturing, sale, or possession of the spices and herbs found in the incense combined the way that they are. Some lawmakers argued that the product should be illegal, just like marijuana. A similar bill is making its way through the Senate.
