NEW ROADS, La (WVLA)--A slew of witnesses took the stand on the second day of the Larry John Snyder, Jr. murder trial.
Wednesday testimonies centered around DNA evidence. The jury heard from detectives and investigators who found traces of blood on Snyder's truck the night Davina Chapman went missing.
But it's Snyder himself who prosecutors are using as a key witness. While he didn't take the stand, prosecutor Tony Clayton played two videos of Snyder. One was a nearly 30-minute interrogation recorded by Louisiana State Police. The other was a television news interview Snyder did in Krotz Springs two days after Chapman went missing. In it, Snyder asked for help from anyone who knew where Champman was. Chapman's uncle says it wasn't easy to watch.
"That was in front of my mother's house," says John Sanders. "That was really painful, really painful, knowing that he can do that to someone so precious and fun loving."
Snyder's mom talked to NBC33 away from cameras in the courtroom. She says, she's "heartbroken" over the whole thing, and she still loves her son and Chapman. She also says her son is innocent.
The trial will continue through Thursday. A key witness for the defense is expected to testifty. Attorney's hope for a verdict by Friday.
