Washington — Truitt Brothers Inc. of East Bernstadt, KY recalled approximately 1.77M pounds of shelf-stable pasta and ground beef products.
According to the Food Safety and Inspections Service (FSIS) the products were misbranded and contained an allergen, hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce, which was not posted on some labels.
The products subject to recall include: 3.3-pound cases containing six, 9-ounce microwaveable containers of “Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles – Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac” with a Used By/Sell By date of “02 MARCH 2014 – 23 OCT 2014.”
The products under recall were manufactured between May 6, 2013 and Jan. 16, 2014, and were shipped to Kraft Foods distribution centers and retail locations across the country.
According to reports, no other Velveeta or Kraft products are being recalled as part of this situation.
The company discovered the problem during a routine quality check and contacted FSIS. The USDA says the company believes a label supplier accidentally mixed up the labels.
There are currently no reports of health problems related to eating the food. However, anyone concerned about an allergic reaction is advised by the USDA to contact a healthcare provider.
Anyone with questions about this recall may contact the Kraft Foods Consumer Relations Center at 1-800-396-5512.
