Jefferson denied new trial

A federal judge turned down William Jefferson's appeal for a new trial.

Jefferson has been found guilty on several counts of fraud for using his power to make money off business deals in Africa.

A jury ruled Jefferson must forfeit almost half a million dollars in bribery receipts.

Soon after, he filed for chapter seven bankruptcy.
