UNITED STATES (NBC33) — It looks like the early bird doesn't always get the worm - not if you filed your taxes early this year, at least.
Many Americans who filed their income taxes early are still waiting for their refunds.
There are delays of up to six months for those who claimed education credits on Form 8863.
In February, the IRS said that it needed more time to update its system, which caused the initial delay. Then in March, the agency said several tax software providers wrongly filed more than 600,000 returns, causing an even bigger delay.
