Investigators look into suspicious fire at BR apartments
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office began investigating a suspicious fire that happened Friday afternoon around 2:50 p.m. on Ned Avenue.
The St. George and Baton Rouge Fire Departments arrived at the scene to find several sections of an eight-foot fence on fire.
The fence was located between two small apartment buildings. The fire burned part of the roofs on each building, but firefighters extinguished the flames before they spread into the attics.
There were no reported injuries. Property damage was minimal. However, the fence was connected to the buildings in the same location as the electrical power. The power had to be cut.
Because residents were left without electricity, the Red Cross provided some assistance.
Responders found the fire to be “suspicious” and called on a St. George fire investigator. EBRSO also interviewed possible witnesses.
Authorities believe someone caused the fire, but are still uncertain whether it was accidental or intentional.
