Illinois man sticks sewing needles in meat, faces federal charges
BELLEVILLE, IL (NBC/KSDK) — An Illinois man is in jail, accused of sticking sewing needles into packages of meat in a Belleville grocery store.
Court documents show Ronald Avers is accused of sliding sewing needles into packaged meat like ground beef, roasts and pork chops from May of last year to this July at a Shop 'n Save grocery store.
The court documents state he confessed telling officials he "didn't know why he did it...just for the hell of it".
