Hurst Middle school students "Wetland Watchers"

The crisis on the coast is heavy on the minds of students at Harry M. Hurst Middle School in Destrehan.

A huge portion of their curriculum centers around protecting Louisiana's wetlands.

Our Emily Turner took a tour of their outdoor classroom on the bank of Lake Ponchartrain.

But the students weren't planting trees or taking water samples like they normally do--they were inside the classroom using the oil spill as another learning tool.
