House Speaker Jim Tucker has reshuffled committee assignments, stripping four lawmakers who voted against Tucker's choice for the House's No. 2 leader of their highly-prized committee assignments.

The move came only hours after Tucker said some lawmakers would lose their committee positions because of their votes against Rep. Joel Robideaux as House speaker pro tem.

Four lawmakers who backed Robideaux's opponent for the job, lost assignments on committees that write the budget and that will redraw the lines of political districts next year. The lawmakers were replaced on those committees with four House members who voted
for Robideaux.

Tucker said Wednesday, lawmakers weren't losing prized committee seats because they voted against him, but rather because they gave their word and didn't stick to it.
