BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) – Thanks to some helpful volunteers and St. Vincent de Paul, those in need of a hot meal on Christmas day will get that and more.

Volunteers at Saint Vincent de Paul are preparing for a busy day tomorrow. Turkey and dressing and all the trimmings will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the St. Vincent de Paul dinning room. It’s located at 220 St. Vincent De Paul Place off Florida Blvd.

Volunteers say giving back to the community is what Christmas is all about.

“We had been kind of looking for a family service project during the holiday just to give to the community instead of just eating and opening gifts at home,” Lesley Taylor, St. Vincent de Paul volunteer, said today on Christmas Eve.

The shelter serves over 200 thousand nutritious meals to the homeless each year.
