BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - Mayor-President Kip Holden has some strong words for Mayor Pro Tem Mike Walker.
The two got into a heated argument at Wednesday night's Council meeting. Holden eventually walked out of that meeting before Council passed his $740 million budget, with some ammendments.
The argument started when Holden asked to speak about his budget. That led to a public shouting and match.
In an interview Friday with NBC33 News, Holden said "no mayor has even been abused like I was abused and no mayor has even been disrespected to the level that I was disrespected".
NBC33 tried several times to get a comment from the Mayor Pro Tem. He released this statement Friday:
"I'm sorry the Mayor was offended. He can speak anytime he wants to at any council meeting. I'm sorry he left so early - we would have given him more opportunity to speak."
Holden says there's "no excuse in the world for what happened Wednesday to ever happen again"
