High school baseball players lift car off of student pinned in crash

A California high school baseball team are being called heroes after lifting a car off the ground, freeing a student trapped underneath on Wednesday.

"It was like, a reaction -- you had to do what you had to do to save someone's life," Valley High baseball player Chas Roberts said.

It takes nine players to field a team, but on Wednesday, about 16 varsity and junior varsity teammates to lift a four-door sedan, freeing the student pinned underneath.

Elk Grove school district officials said the student under the car attends Laguna Creek High.

She was being dropped off for an after-school program at Valley High when the Sacramento Police Department said her mother put the car in reverse, accidentally hitting her daughter.
