Zachary, La (NBC33) — A new children's home in Zachary is looking to help families through tough times.
Heritage Ranch Christian Children's Home devoted to helping children during hardship. They offer families counseling.
It's a place where children 8 to 18 can farm, fish, and play sports, and grow academically.
They've also begun working on houses where the children will live with foster parents.
While many associate these types of programs with some form of domestic abuse, Executive Director Vicky Ellis says trying times happen to everyone.
"What we're really doing is providing a safe place, and a place of respite to work with kids and their families that are going through a crisis during a period of time, and that can happen to a child that's impoverished, to a child that's wealthy, to a good family." says Ellis
