In yet another indication Governor Bobby Jindal is the rising star of the republican party, he will issue the Grand Ole Party's rebuttal following President Obama's state of the union address on February 24th.
“This is a typical thing for the party to do get the up and comer the future of the party to come and provide the message," said Dr. Robert Hogan, LSU Political Expert.
A message millions of Americans are anxiously awaiting to hear.
“And I think a lot of people are gonna be wondering especially republicans what is it that our party stands for. The elephant in the room so to speak is going to be the economy have to put that front and center and to provide an alternative, said Hogan.
Chuck Fontenot, the president of LSU’s College Republicans, hopes Jindal will attack the new stimulus bill that the right wing is fighting on capitol hill.
“I think he's gonna be critical of hiding healthcare in this new stimulus plan," said Fontenot.
The governor will deliver his speech from right here in baton rouge. This latest assignment for Jindal is only fueling speculation he's, most likely, the GOP’s best contender to challenge Obama in 2012. Fontenot says Jindal is the conservative Obama for young people.
"He is viewed as a charismatic leader and will lead us into the future as conservative youth,” said Fontenot.
We contacted the governor's office late this afternoon and got this reply from the governor.
"Here in Louisiana, we have first hand experience with reforming government and cutting taxes to stimulate our economy in uncertain times. This is a terrific opportunity to talk about our great state to the nation."
