A new reading trend is spreading across the country and now it's turning up here at home. They're called "Little Free Libraries."

"It's hard to contain your excitement about books just to the nine to five," said Angi Cinquemano.

Angi has worked with books for 15 years and finally found an outlet outside of work to share with the community.

"Once you get the library the work is done," noted Cinquemano.

Angi was given what's called a free little library as a gift nearly a year ago.

"That’s a thrill for us,” said Cinquemano. ”It’s something free in our front yard that’s open 24/7 and ensures very little maintenance on our part.”

That concept has inspired others in our community to join the movement.

"My husband came home from work and was like I have to show you something, look," said Circe Bridges.

The couple saw the Free Library in Angi’s yard which is only a few blocks away. Shortly thereafter, their conversation began.

"Especially in this day and age with everything being computers and video game I want kids to pick up a good old fashioned book and rediscover the joys of reading."

The libraries are for anyone. They try and keep a variety of books so anyone can take advantage of the library.

After raising over $800, Circe is ready to place three new Little Libraries across town and Angi says this is only the beginning; the potential for Little Libraries in every community is unlimited.

"We’re connecting with other members of the community and families that we don’t know," said Cinquemano.

There are two that are actually registered in Baton Rouge. The other is located off of Highland in the yard of the "Clark" family. The three new libraries have yet to be determined locations.

Circe says she wants to get local artists involved and make them eye catching as well.
