BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — You're generosity while dining at Wendy's is helping to save the lives of many children.
Today the Wendy's franchise Diamond Foods presented a check to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for more than $31,000.
For the past few months, Wendy's restaurants have allowed customers to buy a frosty key chain for one dollar. Once purchase allowed customers to get a free frosty.
All the proceeds go directly to St. Jude for cancer research, and organizers say it's a win-win for everyone.
"One of Dave's proud principles was to give back to the community that supports Wendy's,” said Donna Green.
“Every dollar that goes to St. Jude goes directly toward research and towards the treatment of the children," said Sharon Wood, whose daughter benefited from St. Jude.
It costs 1.9 million dollars per day to run St. Jude. Nearly 700 Louisiana children are being treated there right now.
Of course, no family ever pays for treatment while at St. Jude.
