USS Kidd to host 'Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive'
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The USS KIDD Veterans Memorial & Museum is proud to announce that the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel will be sponsoring the KIDD’s exclusive “Keep the Spirit of 45’ Alive” event at the Belle’s newly renovated Beauregard Room on Sunday, Aug. 10 from 5 p.m. -8 p.m.
“Spirit of 45’ Day” will be celebrated nationally on Aug. 10th this year. The Belle is generously offering 150 guests free access to this unforgettable night. The KIDD will begin taking phone reservations for this event, which is sure to lifts the spirit those in attendance, on Aug. 1st.
In 2010, Congress unanimously voted in favor of a national “Spirit of ‘45 Day” to preserve and honor the legacy of the men and women of the World War II generation so that their example of national unity, shared sacrifice and service to community will continue to inspire future generations of Americans.
“Keep the Spirit of ‘45 Alive” attendees will enjoy a one-of-a-kind USO style musical performance by Rosie and the Swingin’ Riveters. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar available. All guests are encouraged to wear 1940s outfits and bring their dancing shoes.
