People in Thibodaux may do a double-take the next time they get pulled over.

The Thibodaux police Department showed off a police car that they repainted in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The car states "Put the Cuffs on Cancer," and is a partnership with the Thibodaux Regional Cancer Center.

It was the idea of an officer who is a breast cancer survivor, and she'll be the one who gets to drive it.

Chief of Police Scott Silverii said that he wants the car to remind people to get tested, long after Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends.

"You know, I hope it just doesn't become, 'Eh, it's just another one of the fleet.' It looks special, it is special, and it's for a special reason,” stated Silverii. “My hope is when they see it, they’ll say, 'Wow, that's amazing!'"

The Nicholls State baseball team was at the ceremony, wearing special, pink jerseys. They'll wear them during a game this coming season, and then auction them off as a fundraiser for the cancer center.
