People in Pointe Coupee Parish don't have to worry about losing their 911 services.

Since Feburary, emergency agencies across the parish were left trying to make up hundreds of thousands in funding cuts to save the 911 dispatch system.

They announced the solution that has every agency contributing from their general funds to save it.

Councilman Cornell Dukes says the solution helps keep response times short and fast.

"They're signing on to an agreement that's going to protect the people that live here in this community,” stated Dukes. “We can keep our 911 system centralized. It doesn't have to be in one particular municipality or another."

The official documents will be signed next week.

The parish still needs to get close to $100,000 in funds to fill the last gap. Officials are positive that will come through state funds.
